Bull Moose Music: Driving Force Behind RSD
Bull Moose Music, a renowned Maine-based chain of independent record stores, played a pivotal role in RSD’s creation and success. Chris Brown, a Bull Moose employee, conceived the idea for RSD in 2007, recognizing the importance of independent stores in promoting vinyl records. His vision led to the first Record Store Day in 2008, now a global celebration.
Bull Moose’s nine locations along Maine and New Hampshire’s coasts have become destinations for music enthusiasts seeking exclusive RSD releases and limited-edition pressings. Their stores buzz with excitement on Record Store Day as fans line up early for coveted releases.
Highlights and Community Spirit
This year’s RSD celebrated music in all forms, from remastered classics to live recordings and unique collaborations. At Atlantic AV, we proudly partnered with Bull Moose and set up stereo systems at their South Portland and Scarborough locations, playing vinyl and raffling off THREE Pro-Ject limited edition turntables. It was an honor to collaborate and contribute to the vinyl celebration.
Beyond the music, RSD fosters a sense of community among music lovers. Independent record stores provide sanctuaries for discovering new artists, engaging in passionate discussions, and forging lasting connections.
