Where Sound Becomes Experience

A Room Built for Performance

There are listening rooms—and then there are spaces built with a singular purpose.

This project was conceived as a true reference-level environment, where every layer of construction, every component, and every connection serves the same goal: preserving the integrity of the performance.

Before the system was ever installed, the room itself was engineered to disappear.

A combination of double offset stud walls, acoustic dampening insulation, mass loaded vinyl, and dual layers of 5/8” drywall with Green Glue creates a space that is both isolated and acoustically controlled. External noise is kept out. Energy stays in. What remains is a black canvas—quiet, stable, and ready to reveal everything the system is capable of.

The System: Authority Meets Precision

At the front of the room, the presence is unmistakable.

A pair of Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series Diamond loudspeakers anchor the system, delivering a level of scale, transparency, and control that defines what reference playback truly means. They don’t just play music—they expose it.

Behind them, a full complement of McIntosh amplification provides the foundation. Effortless power, massive headroom, and unmistakable control allow the system to breathe, no matter the source.

The experience extends beyond two-channel listening into a fully immersive environment. Carefully placed dipole/bipole surround speakers and overhead Atmos channels create a seamless, enveloping sound field—one that transitions naturally between critical listening and cinematic impact.

Analog at the Core

At the heart of the system is something deeply intentional: analog.

A custom-configured Linn Sondek LP12, built to a Selekt-level specification and fitted with Linn’s flagship cartridge, serves as a reminder that the emotional connection to music often starts with the source.

There is a physicality to vinyl playback in this room—weight, texture, presence—that sets the tone for everything else.

Digital sources are handled with equal care, but never at the expense of musicality. The system allows for effortless switching between formats, without ever breaking the experience.

The Invisible Backbone: Signal Integrity

What truly separates this system is what you don’t immediately see.

Every inch of the signal path is built on Transparent Audio infrastructure—not just cables, but a fully realized signal conditioning ecosystem.

All speaker runs utilize Transparent HP 10-2 cabling, each terminated with Transparent’s network “brick” modules. These are not passive components—they are precisely engineered networks designed to control impedance, reduce noise, and optimize signal transfer between amplifier and speaker.

The same philosophy extends throughout the system:

  • Balanced and single-ended interconnects are tuned to preserve tonal balance
  • Reference and Super level power cords ensure stable current delivery
  • A Transparent Reference PowerIsolator provides system-wide power conditioning

Even the network side of the system is addressed, with Transparent network “brick” technology helping to maintain signal integrity in the digital domain—reducing noise and improving overall system cohesion.

The result is a system where nothing becomes a bottleneck. Everything works together.

Control Without Distraction

Despite the complexity behind the scenes, the experience is simple.

Through Control4, the entire room—audio, video, lighting, climate, and shading—is unified into a single, intuitive interface. A Halo Touch remote provides immediate control, while automated QMotion room-darkening shades and integrated lighting scenes allow the environment to adapt instantly.

Temperature, lighting, and light control are no longer separate systems—they are part of the experience.

The Experience

What makes a room like this special isn’t just the equipment—it’s what happens when everything comes together.

The background is silent. The system is effortless. The performance feels unrestrained.

Whether it’s the subtle texture of a vinyl recording or the full impact of a film soundtrack, the room responds without hesitation—delivering a presentation that is as emotional as it is precise.

This is not about volume.
This is not about specs.

This is about connection.
